HWS President Gregory J. Vincent 83 joined Connections with Evan Dawson on NPRs WXXI radio on July 20 to discuss his return to the Colleges as well as his career as a civil rights attorney and leader in higher education. The show, which was broadcast from the Colleges campus radio station, aired on WEOS-FM 89.5 in Geneva and WXXI-AM 1370 and WRUR-FM 88.5 in Rochester. The full interview is available online.
Vincent discussed national issues in higher education, enduring connections between HWS and the Geneva community, civil rights issues and the Supreme Court. He also addressed questions from callers.
Vincent 83 began his presidency this week with a warm welcome from the HWS and Geneva communities. His appointment, announced in April 2017, was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees following the Presidential Search Committees recommendation. A national expert on civil rights, social justice and campus culture, Vincent previously served at The University of Texas at Austin as Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement, W.K. Kellogg Professor of Community College Leadership and Professor of Law.
During the second hour of todays Connections, Dawson spoke with Jacob Fox 16, CEO and sustainability consultant of Organix Green Industries, a large-scale vermiculture facility that composts biodegradable waste for repurposed use throughout the Finger Lakes. Fox works also works alongside John Hicks 59.
