As part of the Colleges Professionals in Residence Series, Jeremy N. Foley 74, athletic director emeritus of the University of Florida (UF) and Pierre McGuire 83, Emmy award-winning sports personality and NBC Sports Groups NHL Inside-the-Glass analyst, return to campus for a discussion on Sports Careers.
Foley and McGuire will deliver a joint talk at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 in the Sanford Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library. Their visit is in conjunction the Hobart College Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday when Foley is one of seven Statesmen to be added to Halls Class of 2018.
For 25 years, Foley led the UF athletic department, overseeing every aspect of the Gators programs and the $100 million-plus budget. During his tenure, Florida teams won 27 National Championships, including 14 since 2009, equaling the highest total in the nation. Following his retirement in 2016, Foley was named athletic director emeritus and joined the UF faculty as an instructor in the universitys sport management program.
At Hobart, Foley was a three-time letterman in football and a two-time letterman in lacrosse. After he graduated with a degree in psychology, he coached and scouted for the Hobart lacrosse program and later earned a masters degree in sports administration from Ohio University.
In 2008, Foley was bestowed the Hobart Alumni Association Medal of Excellence, the Associations highest honor, for his outstanding achievements at UF.

As an Inside the Glass analyst, McGuire works alongside the NBC Sports Network broadcast team of play-by-play voice Mike Doc Emrick and analyst Eddie Olczyk. In addition to his NHL coverage, McGuire has served as an analyst for NBC Olympics coverage of mens and womens hockey at the past four Winter Olympics, including the 2018 PyeongChang Games.
Recognized as one of NHLs most passionate and knowledgeable analysts, McGuire won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality Sports Reporter for his work at NBC Sports in 2013. Before joining NBC, McGuire coached hockey at the collegiate and then professional level. A former scout, coach and executive in the NHL, McGuire helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win back-to-back Stanley Cups as an assistant coach.
An English major while at Hobart, McGuire was a member of the Statesmen ice hockey, football and squash teams, as well as a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity.
