29 May 2018 Torea '19 Lands Internship with Baeble Music
This summer, Adrianne Torea '19 will enter the frontier of new music, reporting on the latest songs and videos from up-and-coming artists while honing her writing skills as an editorial intern with Baeble Music.
The music platform, dedicated to helping people know whos next, covers rising artists and bands, streams live concerts and offers news and culture analysis on its outlets online and on smart and cable TV.
Torea, a double major in psychology and media and society, says, "I never read an internship description that perfectly suited my career interests more than Baeble. It's my dream internship."
During her time at Hobart and William Smith, Torea has taken advantage of the writing opportunities out of the classroom as well as in her coursework. In the summer of 2017, she completed a marketing internship with MacKenzie-Childs in Aurora, N.Y. and a communications internship with the Seward House Museum in Auburn, N. Y. During the academic year, she works as a writer in the Office of Communications.
Based at Baebles headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y., this summer Torea will write artist features, album reviews, concert recaps and website copy, in addition to covering Baebles live concerts and sessions. Between these different types of writing and the new challenge of writing about music, Torea hopes to develop a broadened and enhanced set of skills there is always more to learn about writing.
On campus, she has been a member of the Heron basketball team for the past three years. She is also a member of Psi Chi, the psychology honor society, and has served on the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee. Following her internship, Torea will begin a semester abroad studying in Aix-en-Provence, France. As a dual French-American citizen, she hopes to become fully fluent and reconnect with her southern French roots.
