The Hobart and William Smith tennis teams are back in action this weekend on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22. Both at home, the Herons will take on Union College onSaturdayat 2 p.m. and then face Bard on Sundayat 10 a.m. The Statesmen face Skidmore on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Bard onSundayat 10 a.m. Both games will be played at the HWS Tennis Center.
On Tuesday, Hobart tennis defeated Rochester Institute of Technology 9-0 in Liberty League play in Gordon Field House. With their fifth straight victory, the Statesmen are now 10-5 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.
Alan Dubrovsky 20andJonah Salita 19, the reigning Liberty League Doubles Team of the Week, opened the match with an 8-2 win in the top spot. Dubrovsky and Salita are now 16-6 on the season with a 10-5 record at No. 1. Jonathan Atwater19 and first-yearWalker Anderson21 bested their RIT opponents 8-5 in the No. 2. Hobart completed the sweep of doubles play with an 8-4 win at No. 3. Patrick Gray 19andDavid Reinharz 19also won for their fourth win of the season.
The William Smith tennis team defeated Hamilton 6-3 in non-conference action in Bristol Field House this week. With the win, the Herons are now 9-5 overall on the season and have concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule.
William Smith took a 3-0 lead in the match after a sweep of doubles play.Michaelann Denton18 and Dina Rigas 21defeated Hamilton opponents 8-5 in the top spot. With the win, Denton and Rigas are now 10-7 on the year with an 8-5 record in the No. 1 spot. Alex Greenberg19 and Katelyn Nguyen21 cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 3. Kate Foley 20and Charlotte Engebrecht 21 closed out doubles play with an 8-7 (7-2) win in the second spot.
