7 February 2020 Statesmen Take on North Country Rival

The Hobart College basketball team will welcome back former Statesmen for the programs annual Alumni Weekend, Feb. 7-8. The current Statesmen will play St. Lawrence on Friday night and Clarkson on Saturday afternoon, while the elder Statesmen will play Saturday morning.

Fridays game against the Saints will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Hobart is 16-3 overall and 10-2 in the Liberty League. SLU brings a 7-11 overall record and a 5-7 conference mark to Bristol Gym. When the teams met two weeks ago in Canton, the Statesmen shot a seasons best 61.8% from the floor in a 93-77 victory.

The alumni game is set to begin at 11:45 a.m. in Bristol Gym.

Hobart will then host the Golden Knights at 4 p.m. Clarkson is 6-13 overall, 4-8 in the league. The Statesmen defeated CU 77-64 in Potsdam on Jan. 24, shooting 59.2% from the floor.

Following the Hobart-Clarkson game, alumni are invited to a postgame gathering in the Gilman Room to reminisce with teammates and meet the current Statesmen.

The Statesmen are in second place in the Liberty League standings, two games behind frontrunner Rensselaer and one game ahead of third place Ithaca. Hobart needs one win to clinch a spot in the six-team conference championship tournament.
