This weekend, the second-ranked William Smith College soccer team hosts the 2019 Liberty League Womens Soccer Championship on Cozzens Field while the Hobart College soccer team heads to the Capital region for the 2019 Liberty League Mens Soccer Championship.
The Herons, who are the top seed in the tournament, will take on St. Lawrence, the No. 4 seed, in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 on Cozzens Field.
The Herons wrapped up the regular season with a 14-1-1 overall record and a 9-0-0 mark in conference play. It was William Smiths sixth undefeated Liberty League regular season in the past seven years.Last Saturday, the Herons defeated St. Lawrence 1-0 in Canton, N.Y. The Herons rank among the nations best in goals against average (3rd, 0.25), shutout percentage (9th, .750), and winning percentage (9th, .906). William Smith has allowed just four goals this season. Only one team in Division III has allowed fewer goals this season (MIT, 3).
Parking in the Bristol Gym Lot will be for staff, officials and people requiring accessible parking. Spectator parking will be in the Scandling and Medbery Lots off of Pulteney Street.
The Statesmen, who are the tournaments No. 2 seed will face the No. 6 seed Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institutes East Campus Athletic Village.
The Statesmen bring a 13-4-1 overall record into Saturdays semifinal. Hobart was 6-2-1 in Liberty League play this season and finished second in the conference, earning a bye to the semifinals. The Statesmen locked up the No. 2 seed in the tournament thanks to a 1-0 victory over St. Lawrence in overtime last Saturday. Entering the week, Hobart is sixth in the nation in save percentage (.875) and shutout percentage (0.611).
