Senior Symposium 2019

The Symposium is organized into faculty-moderated panels focused around specific themes, including Impact of Childhood, Taking Action and Challenging Myths. The format allows students from different disciplines such as English, Anthropology and Religious Studies to share their insights on that theme. Multiple panelsran concurrently throughout the day.

Panel topics included Voices in the Sanford Room, which incorporated discussions on Julius Caesar, filmmaking, English education in India and voices from World War II, and FLX heldin the Sanford Room, where students discussed phytoplankton dynamics in the Finger Lakes, downtown revitalization and environmental impacts on tourism.

The Senior Symposium honors the best traditions of a liberal arts education, says Associate Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Ruth Shields, taking academics outside the classroom, giving individual academic passions a broad audience and exchanging ideas across the HWS community.
