The 2018 conference organized by Professor of French and Francophone Studies Catherine Gallout, a member of the SATOR Scientific Board will feature interdisciplinary presentations focused on cultural representations of food and drink, from the perspectives of various disciplines, such as anthropology, history, art, literature andmore. The conference will begin on Monday, Oct. 8 and continue through Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Gallout explains that the location of Hobart and William Smith at the heart of an important agricultural region, as well as a significant wine producing area, is an ideal setting for the theme of this years conference. This area is witnessing a renewal associated with essential ecological values and the global slow food movement. It is quite fitting that HWS host a conference where an interdisciplinary reflection on eating and drinking is the subject of reflection, she explains.
Along with Gallout, Assistant Professor of History Matthew Crow, Associate Professor English Laurence russard and Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies Courtney Wells serve on the 2018 SATOR Conference Committee at Hobart and William Smith.
