Hobart and William Smith Colleges rank No. 14 in the nation for having one of the most actively engaged student bodies, according to The Princeton Reviews list of the 25 Best Schools for Making an Impact. The list appears in the Princeton Reviews 2018 edition of Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck.

The Impact Schools ranking celebrates HWS students for making a difference in areas of distinction such as student government, sustainability efforts, on-campus engagement and service opportunities. Other schools on the Impact Schools list include College of William and Mary, Columbia University, Tufts University, Vanderbilt University and Williams College.

This is the third consecutive time that Hobart and William Smith have been included in Princeton Reviews Colleges That Pay You Back guide, which recognizes institutions for excellence in areas such as academics, financial aid, alum networks and outcomes. The Princeton Review bases its list on student feedback as well as data on alums from PayScale.com.

In the HWS Colleges That Pay You Back profile, one student comments: Professors are always accessible, and a good number of them reach out to their students as opposed to simply expecting students to take initiative for help. They easily become friends with students and keep in touch with and mentor them after graduation.

Plenty of students engage with the Colleges offerings in athletics, leadership and entrepreneurship, study abroad opportunities, alum network and connections, but they also enjoy weekend excursions off-campus, writes The Princeton Review.

The student impact ranking follows several other national recognitions for the Colleges, including beingranked as the No. 1 school for study abroadopportunities, lauded as atop producer of Fulbright awards, cited among Forbesbest ROIsin higher education, selected as one ofSports IllustratedandMoneymagazinesbest schools for sports lovers, and featured as one of the top 50greenestinstitutions.

In October, Hobart and William Smith were among only six institutions nationwide selected by The Princeton Review to join its Colleges That Create Futures admissions panel. The Colleges joined the admissions program designed for prospective students after being named among the nations top colleges and universities for outstanding outcomes in The Princeton Reviews May 2017 release of its Colleges That Create Futures: 50 Schools That Launch Careers By Going Beyond the Classroom book.
