In the 2020 edition of Best Value Colleges, Princeton Reviewranks Hobart and William Smith Colleges among the nations top 25 schools for campus engagement. The annual list also recognizes HWS for academics, financial aid and high job meaning.

One of only 200 colleges chosen for the 2020 rankings, Hobart and William Smith have been included in the annual Princeton Review list of best-value colleges for five consecutive years.

In this years edition, the Colleges were ranked 15th on the list of 25 schools for Making an Impact, based on student survey responses to questions about community service opportunities, active student governments, leading sustainability efforts and on campus student engagement. High job meaning, as reported by graduates, is also a factor. This is the third consecutive year Hobart and William Smith have been recognized in the Making an Impact category.

Hobart and William Smiths rankings in Best Value Colleges were calculated using more than 40 data points, covering academics, costs, financial aid, debt and graduation rates to determine which affordable, academically outstanding colleges stand out for their success at guiding students to rewarding careers.

Earlier this academic year, the 2020 edition of Princeton ReviewsBest 385 Colleges placed the Colleges study abroad program third on the Most Popular Study Abroad list, marking four years in a row that HWS has been a top-10 study abroad school (No. 7 in 2017 and No. 1 in the 2018 and 2019 editions). For the third year in a row, HWS was named to the Professors Get High Marks list, ranking 13, while coming it at 20 for Most Politically Active. HWS was also listed as a Green College and included among the Colleges That Create Futures.

These recognitions follow several other national accolades, including aNo. 2 ranking as a top liberal arts institution for service inWashington Monthlys College Guide and Rankings.The Colleges rank third among small schools on the Peace Corps 2019 list ofTop Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities. In its 2019 rankings ofBest Value Colleges,the Washington, D.C.-based financial and business publisher Kiplinger listed Hobart and William Smith among the nations top colleges and universities.
