29 May 2020 Masino 21 Secures Bloomberg LP Internship

Daniel Masino 21 has landed a competitive summer internship with Bloomberg LP as a financial analytics and sales intern at its New York City office.

A Trustee Scholar at the Colleges, Masino earned his spot through an application process that included a written essay, an online cognitive exam, a pre-recorded interview and two in-person interviews.

In his role, Masino will have the opportunity to familiarize himself with the Bloomberg terminal and its capabilities, before beginning to analyze financial data to assist the analytics team in refining its models. He will also join the sales team in a client-facing role, where he will help Bloomberg build and maintain client relationships.

An economics major with minors in entrepreneurial studies and public policy, Masino prepared for his entry into the financial services industry through coursework in Principles of Accounting, Investments, Corporation Finance and Macroeconomic and Microeconomic Theory and Policy. In addition, Masino is grateful for the classes hes taken across the liberal arts curriculum that have helped him become a well-rounded person who can think critically.

As a member of the Hobart basketball team, Masino was named the 2018 Liberty League Rookie of the Year. During his search for a summer position, Masino connected with Joseph Gibbons 14, Bloomberg LP Sales Team Leader in Hedge Funds. We stayed in contact throughout the hiring process and he was instrumental to my success in achieving the position, Masino says.

This spring, the Hobart basketball team earned a spot in the sectional round of the NCAA Division III Mens Basketball Championship. Although the final four rounds were canceled due to COVID-19, the historic accomplishment marked the first time the team advanced to the Sweet 16 round in program history.

As a student-athlete, Masino says he has learned that working hard, battling through adversity, being a good leader and teammate, being consistent, and much more, have helped me in all areas of my life, especially in the job market.

On campus, Masino is a member of the Investment Club. He participates in athletic study mentors and Days of Service. In 2018, Masino earned the Druid Award for Loyalty and the first year athlete of the year award.
