28 April 2017 • Humanities LGBTQ Studies Senior Capstone Symposium
Adding to the tradition of the Colleges annual Senior Symposium, the LGBT studies program hosted a year-end colloquy, "Ambiguity? Abolition! Archives: New Works in LGBT and Queer Studies," which highlighted the scholarship of graduating seniors in the program.
The event, which was open to the public, began at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, in the Seneca Room of the Centennial Center for Leadership (603 S. Main Street).
The schedule of presentations included:
* The Ethical Intervention? Critical Reflections on Normalization Surgeries of Intersex Babies by Maddy Devereaux '17 (biology major, public policy minor)
* Whats the Matter with Matter? Aspirations Towards Gender Abolition by Tiantian Qin '17 (biology and LGBT studies double-major)
* Banking Queer Lifeblood: Censorship and Survival of Queer Artifacts, and Alternative Archival Methods by Clare McCormick '17 (theatre and English double-major, LGBT studies minor)
Like the campus-wide Senior Symposium, this LGBT studies event offers an opportunity for students to showcase their culminating senior projects in the field of queer studies, and to engage with the broader scholarly community, including students, faculty and staff. All were welcome.
