This years eventfeatureddances rooted in various traditions and styles, including modern, jazz, classical ballet, hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean and Irish step. The largest dance of the evening, Our Jam choreographed by Sammy Legg 20 and Catherine Sherwood 20 included 43 dancers. Dance groups on campus also performed in the show, including the hip-hop team The Executives in a dance titled After Party and the step team HipNotiQs who closed the evenings performances with Recess.
On behalf of the Koshare Dance Collective, we want to thankthe HWS and Geneva community for coming together in the world of artistic expression and dance, says Ruthazer.
Koshare was founded in 1971 as an all-inclusive student-run organization. Students of all levels of dance experience are encouraged to join and perform. The popularity of the event has grown beyond the bounds of the HWS campus, and since 2013, has been performed in the Smith Opera House, the historic 1,300-seat venue in downtown Geneva.
