The 2019 Golden Globe Awards brought further acclaim for Brad Falchuk 93, L.H.D. 14 and his team, with wins for Best Limited Series and Best Actor in a Limited Series for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
Examining the events surrounding the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, the newest season ofAmericanCrime Story alsoearned the 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series, the shows second win in that category, as well as Emmys for Best Actorin a Limited Series (for Darren Criss) and for Directing in a Limited Series (for Ryan Murphy, Falchuks writing and producing partner).
Falchuk, who is executive producer of American Crime Story, previously won a 2017 Golden Globe for Best Limited Series for the first season ofthe FX anthology show, which focused on the O.J. Simpson trial.
Falchuk has been previously nominated for Golden Globes for his work as co-creator, writer and executive producer ofAmerican Horror Story. He has also earned nine Emmy nominations, including his 2016 win for the first season of AmericanCrime Story.
In 2018, AmericanCrime StoryandAmericanHorror Storygarnered nominations in more than 20 Primetime and Creative Arts categories, including acting, production design and makeup, among others, forHorror Story.The FX horror anthology, now in its eighth season, has earned 28 Primetime and 50 Creative Arts Emmy nominations during its run.
At HWS, Falchuk was an English major with a concentration in theater. During an independent study with Associate Professor Emeritus of English Elisabeth Lyon, Falchuk began writing the script that helped him secure admission to graduate school at the American Film Institute.After earning a degree in screenwriting from AFI, Falchuk began writing for TV shows and was later hired by Murphy to work on the first season of Nip/Tuck. This partnership proved invaluable as the pair went on to create the hit musical comedy seriesGlee, along with Ian Brennan.
Gleepremiered in 2009 and Falchuk, Murphy and Brennan received two Writers Guild of America Award nominations for Best Comedy Series and Best New Series. That year, the show garnered 16 Emmy nominations and four wins. In 2010, Glee earned the Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical Series.
In 2011, Falchuk and Murphy co-createdAmerican Horror Storyand in 2015 premiered the horror comedy seriesScream Queens.The People v. O.J. Simpson premiered in 2016 to commercial and critical praise, garnering 13 Emmy nominations and nine wins.
