22 March 2021 • Faculty Bodenlos Elected Regional VP of Psychology Honor Society
Chair and Associate Professor of Psychological Science Jamie Bodenlos has been elected vice president of the eastern region of international psychology honor society Psi Chi.
Since founding the HWS chapter of the international psychology honor society Psi Chi in 2014, Chair and Associate Professor of Psychological Science Jamie Bodenlos has achieved several milestones, including receiving the Florence L. Denmark Faculty Award by the Psi Chi Board of Directors in 2018. Now, she has been elected vice president of the eastern region for the organization.
Psi Chi exists to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship of members and to advance the science of psychology. Under Bodenlos’ guidance, Sarah Burstein ’19, who served as chapter president in 2018, was awarded the Mamie Phipps Clark Diversity Undergraduate Research Grant in 2017. That same year, HWS earned the Model Chapter Award given to “reward healthy and active chapters who demonstrate communication and cooperation with their local communities, their own chapters and the Psi Chi Central Office,” according to the organization’s website.
A licensed clinical psychologist, Bodenlos earned fellow distinction in the Society of Behavioral Medicine for her contributions to the advancement of the science and practice of behavioral medicine. She is a member of the Education, Teaching and Career Development Councils of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the International Society of Behavioral Medicine, and has served on the Eastern Psychological Society Steering committee at Psi Chi since 2019.
Bodenlos received a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a master’s in clinical psychology from Western Carolina University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Bodenlos joined the HWS faculty in 2009.
