Does Monty Python tell us something about the great philosophical questions? What can we learn from the Dead Parrot? Does The Meaning of Life really give an answer?

Professor Gary Hardcastle will answer these questions and more at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21 in the Sanford Room of the Library. His talk, Themes in Contemporary Analytic Philosophy as Reflected in the Works of Monty Python will use video clips from television and film productions of Monty Python to uncover the philosophy beneath the farce.

Hardcastle teaches philosophy at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. His primary research is in the philosophy of science and epistemology. He received his PhD. in 1992 from the University of California at San Diego. In 2006 he published the book Monty Python and Philosophy, which he co-edited with George Reisch.
