Wish lists filled for 15 children
30 January 2007 Wish lists filled for 15 children
The Office of Public Service at Hobart and William Smith Colleges received a grant from the Hubertus and Helmi Behrla Endowment Fund through the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
The fund, which provides toys to needy children at Christmas, awarded the grant to the Colleges to help members of the HWS community who could benefit from holiday assistance. The funds purchased gifts for 15 children whose family members work at Sodexho in dining services on campus.
This was Katelyn Millers idea and she deserves the credit for it. The funds were used for the sole purpose of providing toys to children and we were very pleased to provide that service to members of our campus community, said Public Service Director Ave Bauder 81.
Katelyn Miller 07, who wrote the grant application and works as an intern in the Public Service Office, enjoyed overseeing the effort. Miller thought that the grant funds would be a great complement to the annual Holiday Project run by the PSO in conjunction with Action for a Better Community. Its nice to be able to help those in our own campus community who need a little assistance to get through the holidays.
Rochester Area Community Foundation is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization that assists donors with their charitable giving, primarily in the six-county area around Rochester, N.Y.
