Peter C. Hodgson will speak on Liberal Theology: A Radical Vision, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27 in the Sanford Room of the library. All are invited.
Hodgson is a professor emeritus of theology at the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University, and most recently the author of Hegel and Christian Theology. His other publications include The Mystery Beneath the Real: Theology in the Fiction of George Eliot (2001), Gods Wisdom: Toward a Theology of Education (1999), and Winds of the Spirit: A Constructive Christian Theology (1994).
Hodgson is a noted theologian and an internationally renowned authority on the religious thought of G.W.F. Hegel, a German philosopher who lived from 1770 to 1831. Hodgson's extensive publications deal with the task of reconstructing liberal Christian thought in dialogue with liberationist, ecological, and religiously pluralistic voices of our time.
He is writing a book on liberal theology as a radical vision, and this lecture is a concise summary of that work.
