10 April 2006 William Smith team wins fourth Susan Bee
The William Smith College team placed first at the fourth annual Susan Bee Challenge, on Wednesday, April 5 at the RIT student union.
Team members Jamie Agnello 07, Cait Allen 06, Kathryn Feller 06, Julia Gibson 09 and Jasmine Yarish 07 bested all college teams in answering questions dealing with women from history, women in politics, women and food, women writers and other notable women.
The bee, which also features community service and corporate teams, is a fund-raising competition that is part of the Women United effort for the 2006 United Way Community Campaign.
The clear difference that sets William Smith apart was that our students are liberal arts students, and they have a broad range of studies from which to pull, said Assistant Dean Lisa Kaenzig, who accompanied the contestants with Assistant Dean Valerie Gunter and Dean Debra DeMeis.
Our William Smith students showed the best of a liberal arts education and the best of a womens college.
Agnello is a Jean W. Reeves 34 Arts Scholar and a Kathryn D. Cook Scholar; Allen is a Rt. Rev. Robert Claflin Rusack 47 Scholar; Feller is a Patricia Lussow 55 Memorial Scholar.
