American Institute of Architects Award
24 January 2006 American Institute of Architects Award
The North and South residences, which many students on campus call home, can now be referred to as award-winning homes. The latest student housing project at HWS has recently received the highest design award presented by the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Designed by the Herbert S. Newman firm, the residences were also featured in a Sept.1, 2005 New York Times article. The article discusses a new trend amongst college buildings that are being designed with community in mind. North and South halls have been praised for their functionality, comfortable social spaces and balance between traditional look and contemporary features. The award will be presented at the Annual Award Gala on Feb. 11.
