Orientation Team Coordinator
Hobart and William Smith Colleges
DESCRIPTION:
The two Orientation Team Coordinators (OTCs), one from each college, play a key role in planning and implementing the first year Orientation program each year. OTCs work with the Orientation Committee and other departments on campus to help new students, family and friends have a smooth and seamless transition into the Hobart and William Smith community; provide essential information that will help them to become successful and well informed students; and, engage new students in a variety of programs. The paid positions begin January 2006 and end in early Fall Semester 2006.
Duties of the Team Coordinators are:
Serve as members on the Orientation Steering Committee and various sub committees.
Coordinate matriculation tent setup and services
Assist in planning and organizing events and overall schedule for Orientation
Organize and design first year planner and orientation packets
Order materials and supplies needed during Orientation
Assist with recruiting, planning for, and training of orientation student staff
Manage orientation student staff during Orientation Weekend.
Minimum Requirements:
Hold a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Be available for all training sessions with Orientation student staff
Attend weekly Orientation Steering Committee meetings
Be available to work all spring, summer and the first two weeks of fall.
Possess outstanding communication, organizational and time management skills
Be exceptionally reliable, punctual, responsible, self motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, sensitive, resourceful, creative, team oriented coordinators.
Compensation:
OTCs receive hourly wages, on-campus housing, and a telephone for full-time employment in the summer. Wages during the academic year (i.e. fall and spring semesters) are also paid on an hourly basis. OTCs will also gain significant leadership experience, develop professional relationships with faculty, staff and students and skills in effective communication. Experience with Orientation is strongly preferred.
