The best of Hobart Colleges achievements and traditions will be celebrated at the annual Benjamin Hale Dinner. An important part of the Hobarts heritage, the dinner will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center.

Each year, the Benjamin Hale Dinner honors students who have excelled in their academics across various disciplines as well as those who have made critical social contributions.

This years keynote speaker is John E. Norvell 66, P99, P02, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel, decorated air combat veteran, and former assistant professor of history at the Air Force Academy.

Norvell also served as alumni director at HWS from 1993 2002. He has written for The Washington Post and several newspapers and historical journals around the nation, and locally, is a frequent contributor to the Finger Lakes Times op-ed section. While a student, he was member of the Canterbury Club, the Echo and Pine, and was inducted as a member of the Druid Society the Hobart senior class honor society.

Norvells keynote address is titled Connections.

The Benjamin Hale student speaker will be Danny E. Cabrera 16, a double major in economics and public policy studies. A native of New York, Cabrera is on the Hobart squash team.

The dinner program convenes students, distinguished alums and other members of the HWS community. Students and faculty who wish to attend the dinner are asked to call the Hobart Deans Office at ext. 3300.
