Dr. Sheldon Feinberg 50 recently published an autobiographical work, Looking Back, and Sharing a Wondrous Life with You, which chronicles his long and impressive career as a pediatric physician. Highlighting key moments that helped create the path he would follow to become a doctor, Feinberg begins the narrative by recounting his time at the Colleges during the late 1940s when majored in biology and chemistry. Feinberg describes that while on campus, he was in the midst of American heroes veterans of World War II. He credits these veterans with inspiring his course of action following HWS. Feinberg enrolled in medical school and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he left an impressive mark on the medical world by orchestrating the construction of a pediatric unit.
Following his discharge from the U.S. Air Force, Feinberg began working as pediatric doctor in New Jersey. During his distinguished career of more than 40 years, he participated in investigative research on the Respiratory Distress Syndrome in premature babies and served as chair of various medical committees, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the New Jersey Chapter School Health Committee, and the School and Child Health Committee of the Bergen County Medical Society. He founded the New Jersey Pediatric Society.
Feinberg also is widely-known for his child safety advocacy work and his campaigns for school bus safety legislation. Since his retirement, Feinberg has helped to create the Medical Society Emeritus Committee, which serves the elderly.
