4 February 2013 Chiddy Bang Kicks Off Semester

Prominent hip-hopact Chiddy Bang helped kick off spring semester last Sunday when they offered up a memorable performance at Bristol Field House as headliners of an on-campus concert.

Organized by the Concert Advisory Committee (CAC), the show was an enthusiastic hit, drawing hundreds to watch Chiddy Bang in action, as well as the popular opening act, rapper Hoodie Allen.

In all, 750 student tickets and 40 guest tickets were sold, with the show proving a success thanks to the tremendous efforts of the CAC student leaders.

Its awesome that CAC could get both music acts together while making the concert affordable, says Jessica Dinan 14. A bigger venue could charge double or triple this price.

At Bristol Field House that night, the tennis courts were converted into a venue ready for a major music event, offering up plenty of space for concert-goers to dance and sing along to the Chiddy Bang and Hoodie Allen performances.

Most people know Chiddy Bangs music and its awesome we could get Hoodie Allen too, says Maria Mangine 14.

In addition to the catalog of hits played by Chiddy Bang, Hoodie Allen dished up cover songs such as Miley Cyruss hit single from 2009, Party in the U.S.A., which received an animated reaction from the crowd. Combining musical genres is a trademark for both Chiddy Bang and Hoodie Allen, which made for an entertaining evening.

Chiddy Bang had a huge hit song with MGMT and I really like how they sample from other lesser known groups such as Passion Pit, says Thomas Mascia 14.

Along with a globally chart-topping single, Opposite of Adults, Chiddy Bang also boasts a world record. Chidera Chiddy Anamege, one half of Chiddy Bang, broke the world record for longest free style rapping performance in April 2011. The record now stands at nine hours, 16 minutes, and 22 seconds.
