Music instructors Anthony Calabrese and Gregory Wachala will join together to lead HWS musicians in a concert at 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, in Williams 200. The concert will feature the Colleges jazz guitar and percussion ensembles.

The Jazz Ensemble is made up of Stevenson Barnard-Webster 14, William Masto 14, Peter Keller 15 on acoustic, electric, and bass guitar respectively, and vocal soloist Arianna White 14. The concert, which will also be accompanied by the percussion ensemble, will consist of a mix of jazz standards including songs such as Ray Charles Georgia and the Beatles Yesterday.

The Percussion Ensemble is comprised of students Jenny Lee 15, Hannah Bishop15 and Waterloo High School student Connor Knudsen.

The Percussion Ensemble will play Mozarts Requiem, K.626 along with Quadratic Equation, Caroled Bells, and Stinkin Garbage. The final piece, Stinkin Garbage, will feature students performing with trash cans in an effort to provide the audience with a novel and experimental sound.

Calabreses jazz ensemble allows for interested students as well as community members to join the ensemble. The group has performed in and around the Geneva area, including a performance at West Street School, part of the Geneva City School District. The group enjoys playing novel pieces with fun and exciting sounds and has previously played Japanese- and Taiko-inspired drum pieces, music on flower pots and galvanized steel pipes, as well as a balloon quartet.

Students interested in joining the ensembles and earning a half credit for their efforts are encouraged to attend the concert and seek out Calabrese and Wachala for more information.
