The work of Lawrence Gregorek 11 is part of an exhibit taking place in storefronts in Beacon, N.Y. Windows on Main Street, which runs through September 8, is a collaborative effort of businesses and artists in Beacon. According to the exhibits website, it engages residents and visitors alike through a public display of art along Beacons historic Main Street. The exhibit explores how art can provide cultural and social understanding, be a catalyst for economic improvement in communities, and strengthen the relationship between residents and artists.
Gregoreks work is installed at Antalek & Moore, 340 Main Street. His artists biography on the Windows on Main Street site notes He creates abstracts, landscapes, portraits and figures using acrylics, oils, inks and pastels, while adhering to the saying : A painting is a poem without words.'
Gregorek earned his B.A. in studio art and minored in media and society. As a student, he was a member of the Statesmen football team and was named to Deans List. He was was crowned Mr. Hobart for the 2011 academic year at a popular campus fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. Gregorek interned with Zoomari Films in New York City following graduation from Hobart. Prior to participating in Windows on Main Street, he had a gallery showing entitled Intuition at The Old Stone House in Sullivan County, N.Y.
