Political Science Internship Panel
12 October 2010 Political Science Internship Panel
On Thursday, Oct. 14, a student-led political science internship panel will provide insight into possible careers in political science and accounts of firsthand experiences in political science-related internships. The panel, which is open to the entire HWS community, will be held in the Sanford Room at 7:30 p.m.
The five students leading the panel all held political science-related internships this summer:
Peter DAgostino 11 interned as a summer analyst for the Global Client Group, BlackRock. Kelsey Bair 11 spent her summer as an intern in the Healthcare Sector at The Podesta Group in Washington, D.C. Michael Barlow 11 spent his second summer in a row interning at JP Morgan in New York City. Christina Amestoy 11 interned with the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Brian Horn 12 was an intern on the campaign for Dan Maffei for Congress.
Bair is looking forward to participating in the panel so she can remind fellow students that there are opportunities to obtain prestigious internships and job offers. And, by learning about these internships, Kelsey hopes that students might discover career options.
Assistant Director of Employment Development, Miranda Warder, believes that students who attend the panel will benefit from hearing how their peers have partnered with alums.
So many of our alums are involved in fascinating fields and are very helpful to our students, she says. It is through internship experience that classroom materials gain greater relevancy and potency because students can relate the material to something theyve seen or done in an internship.
