6 April 2010 GSA Casino Night

The Geneva Scholarship Associates (GSA) Casino Night, a fundraising reception and evening of gaming, will take place on Saturday, April 10. Prizes will be awarded as the evening draws to a close, including gift certificates for Mirbeau Inn and Spa, Geva Theatre, Glenora Wine Cellars, The Belhurst and Yankees tickets.

GSA is a community-driven organization that provides endowed scholarship support to academically and financially deserving high school graduates from Geneva, N.Y., who attended Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

This year, the organization celebrates 42 years of service to the Geneva and HWS communities; this will be the first year that community members have the opportunity to honor and perpetuate the vision of the founders by joining the Founders Circle, or any of the giving society levels. Gifts of all sizes support Geneva youth who attend Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Among the programs success stories are: Dr. Timothy Ryan 72, based in Seneca Falls; James Mulvey 83, who works in finance with Bank of America; Kelly Van Gorden 02 who is a professor at Bloomsberg University and Bonnie Johnson-Aten 82 who was recently named the new principal at Edmunds Middle School.

The Board of Directors current president is Hobart alum James Vedora 95. Other members of the Board are drawn from throughout the community bank staff, parents of alums, parents of previous GSA scholarship recipients, and the mayor.

Casino night takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m., in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
