26 February 2010 Green 02 Set to Make Broadway Debut

Rebecca L. Green 02 is preparing for her Broadway debut next month as the vacation swing in South Pacific, playing at the Lincoln Center beginning Tuesday, March 9. The musical is well known for its extraordinary score the songs include Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali HaI, There Is Nothing Like a Dame, and A Wonderful Guy. Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an unfamiliar culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first delighted audiences in 1949.

South Pacific won seven 2008 Tony Awards, and has been performed in front of sold-out crowds since its first preview in March 2008. Directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher, the show with its cast of 40 continues to electrify audiences across the country.

Green received her Equity card, proof of membership in an organization of stage actors, last year when working with the Avenue Q national tour. She played a small part in the final performance of Avenue Q in January, but South Pacific is her first official Broadway contract.

An arts and education major, Greens concentration was studio art. She also took a number of acting, music and dance classes and participated in Chorale, Cantori and Koshare. She choreographed a number to Dont Tell Mamma from Cabaret in her junior year and sang and danced in Out Tonight from Rent her senior year. Green wrote the cartoon Better than Vera for the Herald for two years, andwas involved in several student produced plays, including I Stand Before You Naked, Model Behavior and Lucky Stiff the Musical.
