24 August 2009 Burnett-Kurie nabs WPSL honors

Former William Smith College soccer standout Laura Burnett-Kurie 08 was recently named to the Womens Premier Soccer League (WPSL) All-Eastern Conference first team. Burnett-Kurie helped guide the WPSLs Adirondack Lynx to a 7-3 record this season and an appearance in the leagues playoffs.

While at William Smith, Burnett-Kurie was a two-time All-American and four-time All-Liberty League pick. She led the Herons in scoring three straight seasons, and finished her career ranked fourth on the schools all-time lists for points (102) and goals (42). Burnett-Kurie is currently the assistant womens soccer coach at Gettysburg College.

Joining Burnett-Kurie on the Adirondack Lynxs roster this season was former Heron Tracy Stankavage 08. An exceptional defender, Stankavage earned All-America honors and was named the Liberty League Player of the Year following William Smiths 2007 season. Stankavage also served as the Herons junior varsity soccer coach in 2008.
