The William Smith rowing teams varsity eight was named the Liberty League Boat of the Week by the conference office today. Its the second consecutive week the Herons have earned the award.

William Smith went head-to-head with Rochester on the Genesee River on Sunday, besting the Yellowjackets by more than 11 seconds. The Herons covered the 2,000-meter course in 7 minutes, 5.15 seconds. The varsity eight was powered by senior Kenzie Cannon, senior Alexandra Bowers, senior Kerry ONeill, senior Anne Wakeman, junior Jamie Billington, sophomore Crary Chandler, senior Emily Maguire, first-year Claire Brown, and senior Caitlin Holtz.

The Herons have won five out of a possible six Boat of the Week awards this season.

William Smith will be back on the water April 18, when the Herons travel to Saratoga Springs for a showdown with conference rival Skidmore.
