Marion Balyszak, director of the Finger Lakes Institute, presented on the Institutes programs at a meeting of the Association of Villages of Cayuga County on Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Auburn.
Balyszak outlined the Institutes lake research initiatives on Skaneateles, Owasco and Cayuga Lakes, the three Finger Lakes partially within Cayuga County. Additionally, she provided an overview of the Institutes active K-12 education outreach programs work with students and teachers, outlined the range of community outreach programs such as lectures, conferences, and group presentations for regional audiences, and the Institutes increasing work with elected officials through its economic environmental initiative to support land use decision-making, protection legislation and sustainable development within Finger Lakes region.
Balyszak, a native of Cayuga County, has been an active participant on the Cayuga County Water Quality Management Agency and frequently presents on a range of topics to regional audiences.
