Daffodil Days
9 February 2009 Daffodil Days
Need a bit of spring in your life, despite the Groundhogs forecast? Want to benefit a great cause in the process? Dont miss your chance to do both during Daffodil Days. The fundraiser allows HWS community members to order small bouquets of daffodils to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Building on last years benchmark of 300 boxes of flowers sold, this year the Colleges hope to sell even more for such a worthy cause. With orders already coming in, HWS community members are encouraged to place their orders by Friday, Feb. 27.
When I saw that this project was listed as a Community Based Research Project I was inspired to apply because cancer has touched my family in many instances, explained event organizer Jacqui Sands09. I truly believe that the mission and work of the American Cancer society is incredibly important and necessary.
My work with the American Cancer Society this semester will include both volunteering and research aspects, Sands said. I am excited to reach out to the local Geneva community and try to branch out our fundraising abilities, on top of fundraising with the parents of HWS students.
