27 February 2008 Tibbens 05 to Share Experiences as a Med Student

Interested in a medical profession? Jennifer Tibbens 05, who is currently a student at SUNY Upstate Medical University, will lead a panel discussion titled Scholarship, Leadership, and Service featuring health professional students at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb, 28 in Trinity 305.

Joining Tibbens will be Ross Green 09, Amanda Lickfeld 09, Sarah Yoon-Miller 09 and Meaghan McCarthy 08. Green will discuss his research at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Lickfeld will talk about her clinical internship at the Finger Lakes Bone and Joint Center, Yoon-Miller will explore leadership opportunities while McCarthy will share details from her study abroad experience in Ireland.

As a biology major at HWS, Tibbens spent a semester abroad in Denmark. During her senior year, she was presented with the Cynthia Oyler '93 award for her superior athletic performance as defensive player for William Smith soccer, exceptional academics records and remarkable leadership qualities. She also spent part of her senior year interning at Geneva General Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology.

The panel is part of a two-day event for Blackwell Medical Scholarship finalists. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about health professions.
