When viewers tune in to the latest hockey coverage on Canada-based TSN television network, they arent hearing just any analysis of the play-by-play action. In fact, theyre seeing the award-winning insights of former Hobart Hockey Assistant Coach Pierre McGuire 83.
As one of the networks on-air experts, McGuire earned TSNs Gemini Award for Best Game Analyst at the 23rd Annual Gemini Awards. The award was given for the networks coverage of the IIHF World Junior Championship. A second Gemini Award honored McGuires colleague, Bob McKenzie, as the Best Studio Analyst.
The award is McGuires second. He was also nominated for the award in 2004, honoring him as one of the games most passionate and knowledgeable analysts. McGuire, who joined TSN in 1999, has been selected numerous times by The Hockey News as one of the games 100 most powerful and influential people. In 1984, McGuire began a long and successful career in coaching. His first coaching job was as an assistant coach for the Hobart Statesmen, and over the next several years, McGuire coached at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., and St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. In 1990, McGuire was hired as a scout by the Pittsburgh Penguins and won two Stanley Cups with the team.

While at Hobart, he majored in English and played hockey and football.
