With hands that tap and slap out rhythms faster than the eye can keep track of, world-renowned Indian tabla player Sandip Burman will come to the Colleges as a part of the The HWS Fall Concert Series. The showcase of talented musicians spanning the gamut of genres launched on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and will continue to dazzle HWS audiences with Burmans workshop at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 in the Geneva Room.
Burman is a native of Durgapur, India with a vast repertoire that ranges from traditional Indian music to modern jazz. His astounding musicianship has led to his collaboration and touring with Bela Fleck and become one of the guest artists on the Flecktones new Grammy award-winning album, Outbound.
Burmans complex rhythmic patterns, combined with his tonal purity, have enabled him to perform across the country from the Kennedy Centerto the House of Blues in Chicago, and now to our very own HWS campus.
This workshop will surely leave you in awe of the musician and his style of music. Dont miss two of the fastest, most skilled hands in modern music.
