The Music Man
1 August 2008 The Music Man
Spend a summer listening to music all day? Ahmad Koraganie 09 jumped at the chance. As the summer music director at WEOS, Koraganie is getting firsthand experience working in the music industry. Im in charge of tracking all the CDs that get sent to the radio station, explains Koraganie. Then I review most of them, and add them to the stations rotation. Hes also producing his own radio show, Smorgasbord, with friend Mike Sauter 09. The show, which airs on WEOS on Thursday nights, features everything from indie to new jazz fusion. Its a musical buffet, says Koraganie. After spending last summer interning at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid in Baltimore, Koraganie, an economics major, decided to explore a different career path. This is a great opportunity to see what working in radio would be like, he says. Im also considering joining AmeriCorps for a year, or possibly going to graduate school. Koraganie belongs to the Kappa Alpha Society, plays in the Hobart Guitar Quartet and works at the music library and IT. He also teaches private guitar lessons, and spent last fall studying abroad in Norwich, England.
