Silent Letters Loud and Clear, written by the prolific Robin Pulver, from the William Smith Class of 1967, has recently been published. In the childrens book, students in Mr. Wrights class express a dislike for silent letters. The students cant hear them. They make spelling too tricky. Should silent letter be banned forever? The offended letters decide to teach the students a lesson by going on strike. The book is a companion piece to Pulvers previous works Punctuation Takes a Vacation and Nouns and Verbs Have a Field Day. Pulver is the well-known author of Mrs. Toggles Zipper (1991), a picture book for children ages four through eight. Mrs. Toggles Zipper tells the story of a teacher who cannot take off her coat because her zipper is stuck. The book was named to the Pick of the Lists by the American Booksellers Association. Pulver continued the series with Mrs. Toggle and the Dinosaur, Mrs. Toggles Class Picture Day, and Mrs. Toggles Beautiful Blue Shoe. Her most recent books include Christmas for a Kitten, Axle Annie and the Speed Grump, and Author Day for Room 3T. She has published stories and articles in Highlights for Children, Ranger Rick, Cricket, and Jack and Jill and frequently speaks at school and community events. Her works have received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Weekly Reader Book Club, Trumpet Book Club and Kirkus.
