An article by Kevin Dunn, associate professor of political science, Never Mind the Bollocks: the punk rock politics of global communication was published in the special issue of the UK journal Review of International Studies. The issue focuses on Culture and Politics of Global Communication.
Dunns article looks at the global punk rock scene and its ability to explore the exchange and circulation of goods, people and messages beyond the limitations of international relations. In the article, Dunn argues that punk offers the possibility for counter-hegemonic expression within systems of global communication and is a subversive message in its own right.
In addition to his many published articles, Dunn is the author of Imagining the Congo: The International Relations of Identity (2003) and co-editor of Africas Challenge to International Relations Theory (2001) and African Guerrillas: Raging Against the Machine (2007). Dunn, a member of the faculty since 2001, holds a bachelors degree from Davidson College, a masters from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a Ph.D. from Boston University.
