It was recently announced that Robin Stiebel 76 has assumed the position of Managing Attorney for the Yonkers Office of the Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, a group whose mission it is to provide free civil legal services to poor and low-income individuals and families. The office represents clients in the areas of housing, domestic violence, elder law, civil rights, childrens advocacy, disabilities, HIV/AIDS, public benefits, consumer law and education. A political science major while at HWS, Stiebel went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in 1979, after which she served as an Assistant District Attorney and later an associate in a small civil practice, both in Brooklyn, N.Y. She subsequently moved to Westchester, where she resides with her family. Stiebel is licensed to practice in New York State, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of Federal Court. Stiebel has been with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley since 2001, serving first as an attorney in the Domestic Violence Unit, and then heading up the Childrens Advocacy Unit, as well as working in the Protection and Advocacy for Disabled Adults Program. An engaged participant in several professional organizations as well as an active supporter of many community organizations, she is a member of the Westchester Womens Bar Association, the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys and is a Board Member of the Lakeland Childrens Center. Stiebel is active with Westchester Disabled on the Move, Westchester Institute for Human Development, and the Westchester Disability Advocacy Partnership.
