Students to present their ideas for the President's Climate Commitment
4 December 2007 Students to present their ideas for the Presidents Climate Commitment
When President Mark Gearan signed the Climate Commitment earlier this fall, he set Hobart and Williams Smith on a path to becoming a greener campus.
This Wednesday, from 2 to 3:30, student groups will present their recommendations for how HWS can and should meet its climate commitment. The students are part of a senior seminar in Environmental Studies and these presentations will cap their research into ways to make HWS greener.
Presentations include:
An HWS emissions inventory
Improving recycling at HWS
Participation in the national Recycle Mania
A Campus Bike Program
HWS Shuttles
Green Purchasing Policies
Light bulb amnesty programs
Green building designs (LEED)
Renewable energy options
The community is invited to attend all or part of the presentations that will start at 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Sanford Room of the Library. This is the community's chance to hear student opinions and to offer input into the process.
