English instructor James McCorkle presented a paper, Lyric Space in Emily Dickinson and Hart Crane, at the recent American Literature Associations meeting in Boston.

His paper, which part of a special panel devoted to the work of Dickinson, Crane and Wallace Stevens, examined the poetics of aurality and space through the use of invocation in selected poems by Dickinson and in Cranes The Bridge.

A 1976 graduate of Hobart College, he received his M.F.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He is the author of Evidences, an award-winning collection of poems; and an editor of the five-volume Greenwood Encyclopedia of American Poets and Poetry.
