David Pimentel, a well-known scientist retired from Cornell University, will speak on Food, Energy and Society as part of the HWS Earth Week celebration, starting at 8 p.m. Monday, April 23 in the librarys Geneva Room.
Pimentel is a Professor Emeritus in the departments of Entomology and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
His research dealt with the fields of energy, ecological and economic aspects of pest control, biological control, biotechnology, sustainable agriculture, land and water conservation, and environmental policy.
The author of more than 600 scientific papers and 23 books, he has served on several national and government committees.
His talk, sponsored by the Campus Greens, is free and open to all.
