Celebrate the Women of William Smith
26 April 2005 Celebrate the Women of William Smith
Moving Up Day is one of William Smith College's oldest traditions. Students, alumnae, administrators, and faculty members gather to celebrate the College and the achievements of its women, this year on Friday, April 29.
The afternoon begins with a traditional procession, led by the seniors, who carry laurel garland and a class banner, followed by the other classes, each of which has its own original banner. The ceremony consists of the presentation of academic and other awards, the sharing of class legacies, the introduction of the new student leaders and Hai Timiai members and the traditional moving up of the classes.
The women of William Smith should meet on the Hill to begin the procession, which will end on the green at Stern Hall (the rain location is Albright Auditorium). The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at Stern Hall. A reception at the Melly Center Atrium will follow the ceremony.
