11 February 2005 Ike 98 Featured as a Mentor

Ike '98 became a mentor for children in the Geneva city school district when she was a William Smith senior. Now, she is a board member of Project Cafe, a teen-directed, nonprofit organization promoting drug- and alcohol-free activities in the Cazenovia area. She oversees the group's youth-to-youth mentoring program, which pairs high school students with district elementary pupils for weekly meetings. She was featured in the Jan. 22 Post-Standard (Syracuse, N.Y.) article Groups mark January as National Mentoring Month.

I loved (mentoring). It was something I really took pride in, Ike said. It allowed me to work with kids on a different level.

Ike works as an English teacher at Cazenovia High School.
