Mike Borsz, a member of the Hobart Class of 2003, has recently been hired as an assistant coach for the Colgate men's lacrosse team. The full press release from Colgate is below.
Cohen and Borsz Named Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coaches
HAMILTON, N.Y. Colgate head mens lacrosse coach Jim Nagle has announced that Jeff Cohen and Mike Borsz have been hired as assistant lacrosse coaches.
Cohen is a 2002 graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Mass. Last year, he worked as an assistant football and lacrosse coach at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass. During the 2003 spring season, he was an assistant coach of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology mens lacrosse team.
As a student-athlete, Cohen was a three-time All-Pilgrim League selection (1999, 2001, 2002), and a two-time All-NEWMAC selection (2001, 2002). He played in the 2002 NEILA East/West All-Star Game, and received Clarks Merit Award as a senior. A two-time team captain, Cohen was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Clark. He earned three varsity letters in both football and lacrosse at Hall High School.
Borsz graduated from nearby Hobart College in 2003 with a bachelors degree in sociology. During the past year, Borsz has worked with the Hitchin Lacrosse Development Program in the United Kingdom, coaching both the Hitchin and Welwyn mens lacrosse clubs. In addition, he assisted with the Wales mens international lacrosse team, and coached the South of England under-16 team. During the summer of 2003, Borsz worked with the West Genesee High School team as part of its summer training.
Borsz was the Statesmens starting goaltender for three years. He earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors in 2002 and 2003, and played in the 2003 North-South All-Star Classic. In 2002, Borsz helped Hobart to a share of the Patriot League regular-season title and the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. As a senior, he boasted a .567 save percentage and 10.46 saves per game overall. In Patriot League contests, Borsz led the league with a 6.46 goals against average and a .671 save percentage. Borszs 473 career saves ranks eighth in league history and fourth all-time at Hobart.
The Raiders finished the 2003 season with an 8-7 overall record. Colgate lost to eventual national runner-up Navy in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament.
