26 July 2004 Lax 66 Featured on NPRs Weekend Edition Sunday

Acclaimed author Eric Lax was featured on NPR's Weekend Edition for his new book The Mold in Dr. Floreys Coat: The Story of the Penicillin Miracle on Sunday, July 25.

In the book, Lax tells the real story behind the discovery of penicillin and why it took so long to develop the drug. He reveals the reasons why credit for penicillin was misplaced, and why this achievement garnered a Nobel Prize but no financial rewards for Alexander Fleming, Florey, and his team. Audio for the program is available, in RealPlayer and Windows Media.

Lax is a member of the Hobart Class of 1966.
