Clifton Hood, associate professor of history, spoke about Why New York City Became North America's Dominant Metropolis at the New York Council for History Education's annual conference, on April 24. The New York Council for History Education seeks to improve the quality of history instruction in secondary schools. About 70 high school teachers attended the conference.
