John D'Agata's new book, The Next American Essay (Gray Wolf), was discussed on the radio program Bookworm on Thursday, May 8. DAgata edited the anthology that presents a picture of what the American essay is, and what, with any luck, it may become. Inserted throughout the anthology, his own funny, meandering essay-in-pieces manages to create the autobiography of an art form. The piece aired with a guest reading by contributor David Foster Wallace. DAgata is a member of the Hobart Class of 1995.
