Carol George, retired professor of American history and now designated research professor, has recently been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to continue her research. She is working on a book on the civil rights movement in Mississippi, concentrating of the efforts of the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan to intimidate activists and supporters of the struggle.
